Rainbows, Lollipops and Cotton Candy
Rainbows, lollipops and cotton candyThese things I remember
Things I liked a long time ago
Or was it just yesterday
How great being a kid really was
When we were young and care free
No worries, no strife
Only bad thing on TV
Was the bad guy getting his due
On Batman and Gunsmoke
Even The Wild Wild West
And Captain Nice was a good guy too
Seems like only hours have passed
And yet, twenty, thirty, thirty five years have gone by
Only 48 years on this Earth
Everyone thinks you're old
The younger set looks to us for wisdom
All we can say is, I'm just as lost as you
On the cusp between young and old
I don't feel 48 and what's worse yet
All my friends have grown old too
Ah, give me back those days of youth
Of rainbows, lollipops and cotton candy
Let us play duck, duck, goose
Or maybe ride our bikes
Let me watch with youthful eyes
F Troop, The Monkees and The Banana Splits
Oh how great it was to be a kid
The sixties and seventies were the best
Take me back home again and
Let me soak up all the fun and all the
Rainbows, lollipops and cotton candy
