Ultimate Price
Who can conceive of a God who lovesWho so loves his poeple, he paid a price
He created a son to be his proxy
Who was both loved and hated by many
But God had his plan
He decided that in order to truly save
His children from damnation
He would have to sacrifice his son
Like Abraham and Isaac
But this time there would be no reprieve
Jesus had to be whipped and beaten
Humiliated and nailed to the cross
Mocked, scorned and denied
Even forsaken in the end
Then finally die on that cross
Only to be risen from a tomb
Three days later and taken to Heaven
He, God didn't have to do this
But he so loved the world
He had mercy and his only son
A sad day on Earth
A glorious day in Heaven
To God be the glory, for if he hadn't
We'd all be in hell's furnaces
Breathing in fire and brimstone
Instead of fresh air
A fate I cannot fathom
Nor even would want to conceive
So I say thank you Lord
To you be the glory
