Deafening Quiet
It starts out peaceful and aloneSolitude, rest an amazing bliss
You pick up a book and read it
After a while, you're ready for a nap
When you awake, you're still alone
You lay there waiting for anything
For thunder to roar, but nothing
You hope for any noise, any at all
Not even the ticking of a clock
The quiet is so loud
Your ears want to burst
Then finally, a knock at the door
Whew, thought I was going deaf
