Tears For The Innocent
As I sat eating lunch at a taco stand
I heard faint cries in the distance
I went to investigate the hollow drops
And I found a young woman
I asked if I could help
At first she shirked
And began to crawl away
But our eyes met
And she knew I truly did care
She said she was in trouble
So I listened and waited my time
As I heard what she had to say
My heart died fifty times that day
She said she was a reporter
Looking for her sister, now dead
She had gone undercover
To her dismay and dread
A Sonny Lassiter had lured her in
With his partner, Leo Green
That life was over now
Sonny was killed
And Leo's in jail
And unlike her sister
She had a way out
Thanks to a street preacher
Named Reverand Jake
He had watched her
Preached to her
Walked and talked with her
And prayed with her too
Finally he got her out
Curious, I asked why she came back
She said to weep for her sister Suzy
Who couldn't get out
Tears of sorrow, for the innocent
The lost sheep out of God's hand
