Wake of Wrath
The heavens shake with fearThey quake with awe
When God looks at his creation
Sees man at his worst
He cringes at the sight
Of his sons and daughters
In filth and debauchery
Sinning to the fullest
Without a care in their minds
So out of disgust, his anger rises
The next thing you know
Thunderbolts, meteors, plagues
Run rampant on the Earth
Still they do not learn
So he closes his eyes and cries
For forty days and nights
His tears flow over the planet
All perish, save one family
And their many, many pets
To start over after the tears dry
Each day thence he sends out
A single dove to scour the Earth
After several days of this
The bird returns with an olive branch
After several more days
The bird never returns
Now the family knows it's time
To begin anew again
And for a while, but only for a while
Peace is restored again
With God's love and mercy
To lead us on our way
