Thirst
Loneliness, it is a thirst
A flower dying in the desert
A place where no one wants to be
Even in a crowded theater
Or alone in a darkened room
You can be surrounded
By friends on every side
But still feel the thirst
The longing to be touched
By that one person
Who could make you full
Yet you can be alone on the sea
And be content and fulfilled
With the wide open spaces
But I keep waiting, patiently longing
Sometimes painfully watching
Others in love passing on by
Someday, I keep thinking and hoping
Some way, some how
I keep praying that someone I tell
That I like them, get to know them
That they won't be offended
And want to creep away
Someday my thirst will be quenched
Hopefully before I'm too old to enjoy it
