BEHIND THE WALL
It’s safe back there behind the mask,
Hiding behind that wall.
You think things are better this way.
But I think I’ve found a flaw.
I have glimpsed the real you
Hidden deep within your heart.
For the mask is falling away,
And the wall is crumbling apart.
Maybe you didn’t want me to see this,
To keep these feelings hid.
And if this is how you really feel
We can pretend I never did.
But I want to know you so completely,
And share your ups and downs,
And be there when you’re laughing,
And help wipe away your frowns.
And if you want to let it all out,
And many tears are shed,
I will always be here for you
With a shoulder for your head.
