THE PEDESTAL
So quickly from that pedestal,
I fell so far.
The one you once held me on;
That reached to the stars.
I could not stay balanced,
On your tiny platform.
I struggled to remain there.
But, I was beaten by the storm.
The storm of my emotions,
That I never realized.
Made me feel special;
If only in your eyes.
So now I tumble,
To the ground.
I’ve been replaced,
New “interests”
You’ve found.
Foolishly I thought
There was so much,
More there.
Thinking a deeper connection,
We shared.
So much more,
I thought to see.
But, on your pedestal ;
I was not meant to be.
You once made my heart race.
But now,
I come in third place.
I should be happy,
To be on the pedestal
At all.
It just hurts so much,
Every time I fall.
