THE SALT UPON MY LIPS
I lie alone in this,
Dried up river bed.
Awaiting the clouds;
To cry down upon my head.
A parched and bitter soul.
Wondering where and when;
It all went out of control.
How did I lose my way?
When did love go astray?
What keeps me ,
Longing for more?
Will I ever reach the ocean’s shore?
A place where the water will rain down,
Upon my skin.
Where I can’t tell where;
The oceans spray or my tears begin.
The blended salty moisture,
Sliding across my lips.
My thoughts on reality,
Losing their grip.
Embracing the rush,
Of forgetfulness.
Deciding it’s all,
For the best.
