NOT MY CHILD
From the moment;
They first put you in my arms.
I vowed to try and always;
Keep you from harm.
From your first word; your first step,
I was there.
You were so daring.
At times you gave me a scare.
As a child I kissed your boo boos
I helped you through;
I was there when;
You struggled through school.
I was there again;
When a girl left you with heartbreak.
But, some things a mother;
Can’t take…
Away
It started out just an innocent looking mark,
Upon your skin.
But that was just where
It would begin.
With a diagnoses
To make my heartbeat go wild.
I can only pray to God;
Please; Not my child.
