I know not where this poem will go,

I just write it so you will know you've touched my soul.

I can't give you what you want and need,

Knowing this makes my heart bleed.

You deserve to be loved in a way that's true,

but, my every word just makes you blue.

Confined to another in an unhappy place,

but to end it I cannot face.

Knowing my every dream could be true,

if I would only choose you.

Giving up my painful abusive existence,
 that only tears me down,

Knowing if I was yours,
I'd wear the princess crown.

I know in you I could find my soul mate.

But I turn away and will realize it too late.

Foolishly I give up my chance at real happiness,

Knowing in you I could find my bliss.

With every word I seem to hurt you more,
Causing you pain,

to your very core.

I dream of another time,

when as children we were free,

and we could have loved unconditionally.

Sadly to another my soul was sold,

Before I met you in a relationship turned cold.

What hurts most of all,

Is knowing I'm hurting you,

by not returning your lonely souls call.
