LAST DANCE
I still remember my last dance,
before my life was changed for all time.
A life where control of my body,
was no longer mine.
The eldest of my offspring,
nervous for his first formal dance it's true.
Unsure of exactly what to do.
So down on my knees to reach his height,
I showed him how to place his hands just right.
With our own little tune in our head,
I taught him how the dance should be lead.
Little did we know,
a meer week later.
That the memory,
of this cherished moment,
would be that much greater.
I remember it like it was yesterdayyou see,
it was the first dance for you,
but the last dance for me.
