NOT SO AMUSING MUSE
The muse shows no compassion,
For whether it’s day or night.
For when it chooses,
You will have no choice but to write.
“shut up muse!”
Just let me sleep.
I don’t like,
The hours you keep.
You pounce upon me at the most inopportune times.
Insisting I run through my dictionary of rhymes.
Knowing if paper and pen I lack,
Later forgetfulness will attack.
Forever losing your brilliant insight,
To the silence of the night.
My muse cares not,
If it’s p.m. or a.m.
Listen up muse…
“Now I lay me down to sleep!
Amen!”
Quickly! find me paper and pen.
Sometimes, my muse is not my friend.
If I don’t answer your demand,
I’ll lose your ideas to Never land.
Although at times you truly inspire.
I tend to wonder ,
Do you ever tire?
