I TASTED IT
I tasted it;
The sweetness of your love,
upon my lips.
Like the sweetest nectar,
I could only handle a sip.
But as the season's changed,
Their song.
The taste just seemed;
To go all wrong.
Soon bitterness replaced,
the taste;
Once so sweet.
When with honesty,
My gaze;
You could no longer meet.
Now all I can taste,
Is the heartache;
You left me with.
You no longer can find,
A love to give.
Now only salt,
Touches my lips;
As I shed my tears.
Tears that wash away,
The memory of our years.
Now I'm left knowin' ;
Only what,
Could have been.
No taste could have ever been,
So sweet.
As that first love;
Only in the end,
It turned bittersweet.
The sweetness of your love,
upon my lips.
Like the sweetest nectar,
I could only handle a sip.
But as the season's changed,
Their song.
The taste just seemed;
To go all wrong.
Soon bitterness replaced,
the taste;
Once so sweet.
When with honesty,
My gaze;
You could no longer meet.
Now all I can taste,
Is the heartache;
You left me with.
You no longer can find,
A love to give.
Now only salt,
Touches my lips;
As I shed my tears.
Tears that wash away,
The memory of our years.
Now I'm left knowin' ;
Only what,
Could have been.
No taste could have ever been,
So sweet.
As that first love;
Only in the end,
It turned bittersweet.
