STAINS
Upon a gilded platter,
I offered you;
My heart.
Wondering with nervous anticipation;
If you’d break it apart.
Do I dare allow you,
Into this vessel of mine?
A vessel cracked,
And occasionally shattered.
When someone didn't think;
My opinion mattered.
Making all the decisions,
In this relationship.
I’m left to wonder;
Did you push me.
Or did I only slip?
My dreams erupt,
Into the falling mist.
When was the moment;
We last shared a kiss?
Into a million pieces,
My fragile heart;
Just broke apart.
I stepped upon the pieces
They pierced into my soul.
Leaving nothing but
Bloody footprints behind
Staining this heart of mine.
