A conflicted faith
There are afflictions of the mind
Creating conflicts of the heart,
Souls which are too heavy
Found in every single person,
Faith in things above,
Gods who love and hate
Spawn such devotion
They leave you on your knees
To beg forgiveness for sin
You've yet to do
Acts never committed,
I have a crisis of faith,
For all reasons stated
I will not kneel
To a priestly ghost,
Nor pass confession
In musty gloom,
I believe in myself,
That at the end of life
My action will speak truth
To a spurned world
Lost in poverty
And hopeless inequality, I hope not for spiritual gain But peace when I look back On how my life's been spent, I hope to see something Anything, that's changed Because I lived and breathed, If this is religion Them I am a devout believer But what I see shows differently, I see a world caught in destruction Lost from following a path, People caught in an illusion Of what life ought to be but isn't, Wars fought for monetary gain, Birthed though a people pain Of tyranny or democracy All screaming more, more, more
