Broken Tears
There was a time when I had tears enough for us both,
But that time has come and gone away,
The drops have fallen enough to fill the oceans
Of a world caught up in a distant yesterday,
I watch you fall and my eyes stay dry,
Even though I know that you will die,
Just a drifting of time, an endless counting
Of your numbered days coming to a close,
You've played your part, in life's grand show,
The public applauds your spectacular performance,
Never knowing that you will play no more,
The tyrant villain or the tragic hero,
Misunderstood, your every action,
But I know this is it,
And eyes stay dry
When really they should cry,
If only to purge your memory
From my cooling heart,
I watched you grow,
Into a man filled with pain,
I tried my very best,
To stay with you through thick and thin,
But your hate and anger were too strong,
And my heart could take no more,
You pushed and pushed
Until I had to say goodbye,
I can never know the man,
When I so loved the boy,
But you my drifting brother,
Will always hold a place,
In the past I treasure so,
And the tears I shed for you,
Have dried into red soil,
Reflecting all that you see lost,
The pain that shouldn't be real
But clings to you eternally.

But I know this is it,
And eyes stay dry
When really they should cry,
If only to purge your memory
From my cooling heart,
I watched you grow,
Into a man filled with pain,
I tried my very best,
To stay with you through thick and thin,
But your hate and anger were too strong,
And my heart could take no more,
