A Secret Sun
I woke this morning
To a bright sun
Shinning through
My dusty window
But I could feel no heat
Nor any comfort
From its constand light
Why should day be any different
To my blessed night?
Today I woke
And looked at everything I saw
Under a new light
Suddenly I understood
And fell to my knees and wept
For now I knew the secret of the sun
The joy it brings to everyone but me
I cried bitter tears
To know I was exempt
But then I stood
Hope springing through my battered heart
If they could see
All that I read about
Then maybe
Just maybe
For now
T'would be enough to know
That every morning
Beauty is born
Even if my beating heart
Could not yet see
The secrets of the rising sun.
To a bright sun
Shinning through
My dusty window
But I could feel no heat
Nor any comfort
From its constand light
Why should day be any different
To my blessed night?
Today I woke
And looked at everything I saw
Under a new light
Suddenly I understood
And fell to my knees and wept
For now I knew the secret of the sun
The joy it brings to everyone but me
I cried bitter tears
To know I was exempt
But then I stood
Hope springing through my battered heart
If they could see
All that I read about
Then maybe
Just maybe
For now
T'would be enough to know
That every morning
Beauty is born
Even if my beating heart
Could not yet see
The secrets of the rising sun.
