Goodbye
Perhaps if I had submitted to the flow,
We wouldn't be here today,
Contemplating the ending of love,
Discussing it, like stone cold facts
Emotions explained away,
Life forgotten in the sway,
Of something that shouldn't be,
We made perfect sense you and me,
S'pose that's why we have to say goodbye,
Two and two don't make four anymore,
Just an equal which won't stand
Against the tidal wave of life,
I wish I could believe in miracles,
But those don't come to folk like you and me,
They are reserved for those of difference,
Those favoured by the almighty powers that be,
Not ordinary people crashing through life,
So I turn my head, pretend I cannot cry,
And start the journey, walking, just me,
Your back already lost in the crowd
Of people just like you and me,
Saying farewell never looking back,
Lest they lose the will to keep walking,
Till we are lost and alone,
But still we say goodbye,
It's the only thing left to do...
We wouldn't be here today,
Contemplating the ending of love,
Discussing it, like stone cold facts
Emotions explained away,
Life forgotten in the sway,
Of something that shouldn't be,
We made perfect sense you and me,
S'pose that's why we have to say goodbye,
Two and two don't make four anymore,
Just an equal which won't stand
Against the tidal wave of life,
I wish I could believe in miracles,
But those don't come to folk like you and me,
They are reserved for those of difference,
Those favoured by the almighty powers that be,
Not ordinary people crashing through life,
So I turn my head, pretend I cannot cry,
And start the journey, walking, just me,
Your back already lost in the crowd
Of people just like you and me,
Saying farewell never looking back,
Lest they lose the will to keep walking,
Till we are lost and alone,
But still we say goodbye,
It's the only thing left to do...
