The Sin of Science
We are born into a world of chaos,
My children will be born into a world of silence,
I pity them for they will not know the joys
That life has granted me,
By the time they set foot upon the path of life
The world will be blanketed in fog of silence,
The gift of science will be theirs,
And life, forever, shall be lost.
They will not know the beauty of speech,
And I cry for their children,
For whom more shall be lost,
They will not feel the heat of touch,
For them the world will exist only
On a cyber-plane of silence,
Words crossing the earth in seconds,
Expressions conveyed on actions through a screen,
I mourn the loss of life that science gives,
But even as I weep,
My fingers dance across a stage
Filled with letters and numbers,
Lit by cables of power,
Even as my heart breaks,
It does so without a sound,
Breathing its pain unto lifeless plastic,
Silentl
