The valley's silence
Not all that long ago
I found a peace
High up the Swiss Alps,
There is a little glade
Nestled between the towering peaks
And in its centre rests a lake
Of glistening saphire diamonds,
The water makes no sound
Fed from the belly of this great mound
Though I have not words
To take from greats,
I found a peace
That I have never felt before,
It came suddenly,
As though it felt the need to mock
All that I knew,
Sound, the very fabric of life
Halted, one small instant,
Showed me
Millenia's of peace
Before I became just another dot
On this overcrowded planet,
Then a bird screamed
Breaking the barrier
Of space and time
Bringing that moment to an end
And I have never since
Regained that peace
Found in the mountain valley
Standing by that timeless lake
Where the sky fell
Onto its mirror glaze
Reflected evermore
Undisturbed by my silent footfall
I found a peace
High up the Swiss Alps,
There is a little glade
Nestled between the towering peaks
And in its centre rests a lake
Of glistening saphire diamonds,
The water makes no sound
Fed from the belly of this great mound
Though I have not words
To take from greats,
I found a peace
That I have never felt before,
It came suddenly,
As though it felt the need to mock
All that I knew,
Sound, the very fabric of life
Halted, one small instant,
Showed me
Millenia's of peace
Before I became just another dot
On this overcrowded planet,
Then a bird screamed
Breaking the barrier
Of space and time
Bringing that moment to an end
And I have never since
Regained that peace
Found in the mountain valley
Standing by that timeless lake
Where the sky fell
Onto its mirror glaze
Reflected evermore
Undisturbed by my silent footfall
