The Hunt
I’m being hunted
From my dreams into this world
Shattering reality
And its false tranquillity
So yet again I’m running
From something in my mind
A darkness that forever haunts me
Threatening my sanity
So once again I turn to you
The pen and paper in my hand
That listens to my broken words
I’ve closed my mind
To outside words
That tell me to be patient
That life will stabilize
How long must I wait
Until my life’s being devoured
By this approaching void?
It seems that life is never ending
Even when it’s snuffed away
I think I understand myself
After all these years have shown me
The pettiness of happiness
A fleeting joy I hope to ignore
From my dreams into this world
Shattering reality
And its false tranquillity
So yet again I’m running
From something in my mind
A darkness that forever haunts me
Threatening my sanity
So once again I turn to you
The pen and paper in my hand
That listens to my broken words
I’ve closed my mind
To outside words
That tell me to be patient
That life will stabilize
How long must I wait
Until my life’s being devoured
By this approaching void?
It seems that life is never ending
Even when it’s snuffed away
I think I understand myself
After all these years have shown me
The pettiness of happiness
A fleeting joy I hope to ignore
