Faded Dreams
Perhaps you rememberA time when I was young
And lost to innocence
Writing a page on things
That I planned to do in life,
I don't recall doing it
But the proof lies here,
Undeniable and inescapable
My dreams in black on white
But age has crumpled
This weak paper
And time faded the ink
Till I strain to read it now
Seems sad to think
That when I look
Down on a page of hopes
All I can do is smile, sadly,
For the small smile
Is all that can be spared
For the faded dreams
Of that naive child
