Anger
You have shadowed me
For too long
My heart was broken
My pain a shield
But I have to live
And anger has swallowed love
Your contempt
Masked in friendship
Has followed me
Since I left you
I hate the fool I am
And anger is so much stronger
Than loves’ weakling
I won’t slave to this,
This hopeless emotion
That breaks the strongest among us
You have taught me
And I a good student
Have learnt
I have been burned
And I am wary of the fire
Now wouldn’t you smile?
I am just like you
I take what’s offered
I love the impossible
So I might never be happy
Is that not you?
Anger is strong
It’s uncompromising
It cares for you
Takes away the pain
Warms you and lights the way
When all else has faded
It’s solitary
For too long
My heart was broken
My pain a shield
But I have to live
And anger has swallowed love
Your contempt
Masked in friendship
Has followed me
Since I left you
I hate the fool I am
And anger is so much stronger
Than loves’ weakling
I won’t slave to this,
This hopeless emotion
That breaks the strongest among us
You have taught me
And I a good student
Have learnt
I have been burned
And I am wary of the fire
Now wouldn’t you smile?
I am just like you
I take what’s offered
I love the impossible
So I might never be happy
Is that not you?
Anger is strong
It’s uncompromising
It cares for you
Takes away the pain
Warms you and lights the way
When all else has faded
It’s solitary
