A Failing Requiem
Standing here, alone
Singing a private song
None left to hear
Its muted melody
With a heart of broken stone
Been alone for so long
Seems my end draws ever near
So one last symphony
To play with thoughts
Experiment with words
Once lost in a distant past
Just the distant song
Drifting endless through my mind
But now my voice begins to fade
Struggling, clogged throat,
Filled with un-shed tears
For things which never were
Hope I only dreamed of
Another verse to release
Delaying the inevitable close
Of a song lost to the silence
Of the oncoming end
Softly spoken, dissolving
Into tears, chocking on every word
Saying goodbye, to you, to me
To everybody I have laid down
My foolish requiem
For the senseless dead,
A song I softly sing
Begging your pardons
Saying a lost goodbye
