Of Hope I Pray
I wished upon a star that night
Long, long ago
I wished for an end to my fight
Long, long ago
My lips no longer speak
Those words of hope
My dreams forever seek
A light long gone
How have I the right to ask
To ask for forgiveness
I have been tainted
Marked red
Mother heal a tortured soul
Hear its cries
One day I may come forth
And shine, but not today
I stand on my own two feet
Carry the load of a grownup
With the fear of infants
When will I live?
Forgive me Father for I have sinned
Reclaim my mind
Let me walk in your path
Give me steps to follow
The night wind howls reproach
The rain drops molten fire
My head is burned
Under torrential pain
Forgive me Mother for I have eared
My feet strayed from the way
My mind is lost in shadow
Where black and white are grey
Long, long ago
I wished for an end to my fight
Long, long ago
My lips no longer speak
Those words of hope
My dreams forever seek
A light long gone
How have I the right to ask
To ask for forgiveness
I have been tainted
Marked red
Mother heal a tortured soul
Hear its cries
One day I may come forth
And shine, but not today
I stand on my own two feet
Carry the load of a grownup
With the fear of infants
When will I live?
Forgive me Father for I have sinned
Reclaim my mind
Let me walk in your path
Give me steps to follow
The night wind howls reproach
The rain drops molten fire
My head is burned
Under torrential pain
Forgive me Mother for I have eared
My feet strayed from the way
My mind is lost in shadow
Where black and white are grey
