Broken Bonds of Blood
Tears were never meant to see the light of day
And if they do are quickly burnt away
By the sun whose rays lap water up
Leaving only impurities to rot
On our faces, clouded as they are,
The myth that blood being thicker than water
So saying family can never flow away
Only holds when your grasps are tight
For even blood may trickle from a gap
Till all hold are blood stained fingers
There are some wounds that time cannot heal
There are some words that time cannot erase
So you, once so dear to me, I release,
For you have nothing but anger in your heart
And I, nothing but pain,
Blood of my blood, say goodbye,
For I am cutting the ties,
Pulling strands of DNA
And leaving them unwound
Leaving us, unbound
