For the love of One
I haven't seen your faceIn many years
But the happiness
You once brought
To a fallen heart
Is sometime I can't forget
But now when I
Try to talk to you
You don't seem
To see my words
So I tried to leave you behind
Forge a future away from you
But my treacherous heart refuses
To leave someone so dear to me behind
And every time your name crops up
I have to wonder, when will it stop
The quaver in my voice
As I forget myself and leave a message
The tremble in my hand
As fingers turn to ice
And the ink smudges
Before my crying eyes
I wish I could forget
But your damming effect
Has left a woman broken
And the love I've given
To other people
Is but a fraction of
What I held for you
And still do
I don't believe
In second chances
Our time has come and gone
Any words left to be said
Must be softly spoken
To my dampening pillow instead,
